WINTER PROGRAMS 2009-2010

OGLESBY BB GUN CLUB

     The club is open to Oglesby boys and girls who will be nine years old by January 1st, 2010 and promotes BB gun safety.  It meets each Monday between the hours of 4:30 - 7:00 pm from November thru February downstairs in the City Hall.  There is no fee for joining and all guns, BBs and targets are furnished.  The club is sponsored by the Oglesby Police and Parks and Recreation Depts, along with local businesses and organizations.

SANTA’S HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE

     Santa Claus will be at the Dickinson House visiting with the children and distributing goodies between the hours of 3:30 – 6:00 pm.  Children will be able to bowl free from 3:00 - 6:00 pm.  From 4:00 – 6:30 pm visitors can enjoy a carriage ride through the streets of Oglesby along with listening to the sounds of Christmas from local choirs and singing groups.

“LITTLE DRIBBLERS” BASKETBALL SKILLASTICS PROGRAM

     Open to Oglesby boys and girls in kindergarten and first grade.  This program, held every other Monday night at Lincoln School, is an excellent tool to develop hand-eye coordination, increase reaction time and foster teamwork.  Featuring 26, challenging, yet non-competitive ball handling drills.  This game builds skills that cross over to other sports and activities.  Kindergarten program will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 pm and first grade program from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.  Signup is the first night of the program.  Fee is $15.00.

“RISING STARS”  BASKETBALL FUNDAMENTALS PROGRAM

     This program is designed for second and third graders.  Second grade program will be held from 6:00 - 7:00 pm and third grade from 7:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday nights at Lincoln School in January and February.  These programs focus primarily on basketball fundamentals: dribbling, passing, shooting and sportsmanship.  Signup is the first night of the program.  Fee is $15.00.

“POWER HOOPS”  REC BASKETBALL LEAGUE

     This program is offered for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders living in Oglesby. Teams are chosen from the children that signup, with games being played on Wednesday and Thursdays from 6:00 - 8:30 pm during the months of January and February.  Leagues are formed for separate boys and girls teams.  Fee is $20.00.

YOUTH BOWLING

     The Dickinson House bowling lanes are available for bowling and birthday parties or get a group of 10 or more together and come bowl for an hour or two.  The lanes will be available for open bowling from 12:30 - 2:30 PM during Christmas break.  Call (815) 481-9298 or (815) 883-8614 for more information.
