The Mayor asked for comments from the public.

Wand Lent asked if the final Summer Fun Fest Financials were available. Mayor Finley told her we are still waiting on a few more bills.

Greg Stein asked the board when considering the new building code to think about personal residents selling back power from their solar panels. Attorney Andreoni explained that the land development code wasn’t just about solar; it’s a revision of the whole code. Greg also said he was in favor of the City pulling out of the shared services but wonders how we are going to handle the police pension issues. He also asked about our 911 dispatch service.

Sarah Cudlip asked about specifics for the Cookie Kingdom project and if they were making a new lot or using the City lot. Commissioner Argubright told her that they are making a new lot in the back.

Porter- Commissioner Porter said that the Fire Department was awarded a $15,500 grant for an extractor and dryer for fire gear.

Mayor Finley- Mayor said the Back to School Bash that City had last Thursday was a great success and that the kids seemed to be having a great time. Aug 8 from 11-1 the City will be serving a hot dog lunch for $2 as a fundraiser for Senica Square. Lunches include a hot dog, chips, drink, and a scoop of ice cream. Aug 10 is our Boots, Brews, and BBQ. BBQ dinner is available starting at 6pm, gates open at 7, and the Ethan Bell band will play from 8-10pm. There is a $3 cover charge and funds raised will go towards Senica Square improvements.

Porter- Commissioner Porter thanked Ambulance Director Cathy Edens for working with the DNR to obtain 3 new cardic monitors that cost $27,000 each. He said that these monitors are mandated by the State.

Mayor Finley- Mayor said that the Central States Baseball Tournament begins Friday July 20th. Opening Ceremony is in Peru and Oglesby will host the Championship game on Wed. He reminded everyone that Destination Development is coming next week (July 23, 2018) and that the presentation of the findings will be on Friday July 27 at IVCC at 7:30am. The public is welcome. Mayor said that after viewing the videos that were shown by the Citizen’s and Businesses of Oglesby about having a main attraction in the downtown and idea for Senica Court emerged. Mayor unveiled a rendering of a splash pad/ice skating rink along with a stage for the area. He plans on showing Destination Development the plans. He said that the upcoming Boots, Brews and BBQ event will be the first fundraiser for the project. He mentioned that this area is in TIF 1 so we could use TIF funds for the project that is projected to cost an estimated $550,000-$600,000. He wants to invest in our downtown and hopes it will fill empty buildings.

A discussion between the Mayor and Wanda Lent about TIF Funds followed. Wanda asked about TIF funds being used to repair the Dickinson House roof.
