OGLESBY CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 3, 2012, AT 7:00 P.M. IN THE
COUNCIL CHAMBERS.

MOTION MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY PORTER to place Motor
Fuel Tax Allotment of $8,553.91 on file. YES: PORTER, RIVARA, FINLEY. MOTION
CARRIED.

 

MOTION MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY PORTER, to place state
sales tax allotment of $23,606.31 on file. 
YES: PORTER, RIVARA, FINLEY. 
MOTION CARRIED.

 

MOTION MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY PORTER, to place on file
an ordinance authorizing a line of credit. 
Attorney Andreoni explained that the ordinance was similar to one passed
last year at this time, except that it would for a longer period of time. YES:
PORTER, RIVARA, FINLEY.  MOTION CARRIED.

 

MOTION MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY YBORRA, to accept
Ordinance No. 791-121911, adopting a small municipal renewable resource
policy.  YES: DANEKAS, PORTER, RIVARA, YBORRA,
FINLEY.  MOTION CARRIED.

 

Commissioner/Mayor reports:

            Rivara – Said he had received a
couple of calls wanting to know if the city would support business
development.  Rivara told the council
that he would be looking into the Comcast agreement, including the pole
agreement.  He also said he was putting
together information for an ordinance that addresses the need to inspect a home
if the power has been disconnected for a period of time.  Lastly, he said he continues to talk with
Illinois Valley Community College and Ameren about servicing the college and
other areas nearby.

            Porter – Thanked all of the
emergency services for their assistance at the Westclox fire.  Porter said he believed the fire was
“unprecendented in scope” for the area and that “all involved deserved praise.  He also thanked Technisand and Wedron for
their $5,000 donations to both the ambulance and fire departments.

            Mayor Finley – Announced that there
would be a “Dueling Pianos” event at the Elks Lodge, on Feb. 18, 2011, to raise
funds for two new additions to Summer Fun Fest: 
a salute to area veterans, military personnel and their families and the
Art Sarver Memorial 3 mile Run/Walk. Tickets are $12.50 and can be purchased at
City Hall.
