A MEETING OF THE OGLESBY CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD ON MONDAY, JUNE 15, 2015, AT CITY HALL. THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:00 P.M.

PRESENT: COMMISSIONERS CAREY, PORTER, RIVARA, YBORRA, MAYOR FINLEY, ATTORNEY JIM ANDREONI AND CITY CLERK BECKY CLINARD.

There was no public comment on agenda items.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY YBORRA, to accept

Ordinance No. 900-061515, Ambulance Director’s Salary. AYES: CAREY, RIVARA, YBORRA, FINLEY. NAY: PORTER. MOTION CARRIED.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY YBORRA to approve Ordinance No. 901-061515, Prevailing Wage. AYES: CAREY, PORTER, RIVARA, YBORRA, FINLEY, MOTION CARRIED.

A MOTION WAS MADE BY PORTER, SECONDED BY CAREY to accept the appointments by Company No. 1 of the Oglesby Fire Department of Ron Popurella as fire chief and Steven Maltas as the assistant chief. AYES: CAREY, PORTER, RIVARA, YBORRA, FINLEY. MOTION CARRIED.

At this time, Commissioner Porter read a prepared statement introducing Oglesby’s newest police officer, Evan Duttlinger, and administered the oath of office to Duttlinger. Porter spoke highly of Duttlinger, and said he was “really pleased” with the Fire and Police Board’s choice.

The Mayor then opened the floor for comments, there were none.

Commissioner & Mayor Reports:

Commissioner Rivara again asked about the status of the IDNR grant for the canoe landing. The Mayor assured Rivara that he had checked numerous times and had been in contact with the IDNR concerning the grant and had been assured the money had been set aside for the project.

Commissioner Carey announced plans for the city employees to do branch chipping the week of July 13th.

Commissioner Yborra gave an update on the Walnut Street resurfacing project.

The Mayor gave a short recap on the city’s Summer Fun Fest, noting that the Party in the Park had attracted almost 400 kids and their parents. He thanked the community for its support.
