Summer Recreation Program Registration from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at City Hall.
Youth Tennis Lessons (June 4 – 21)
Learn the sport of a lifetime! Lessons begin on June 8th for boys and girls entering grades 1 – 8 and will be held at Countryard Park Lessons are Monday thru Thursday (with Friday as a rain date); times are: Beginners 9am – 10am, Intermediate 10am – 11am, and Advanced 11am – 12noon. Please specify your child’s group on sing-up form. There is a $25 fee for lessons.
I(L Junior Chefs (June 18 – 22)
The program is led by University of Illinois Extension staff and teen teachers at the Dickinson House. The class will run from 1:30pm – 3:30pm. The cooking school is for children ages 8 – 13 (30 participants maximum) and is FREE! Teen teachers from Illinois 4-H and staff members with the Illinois Nutrition Education Programs work together to provide3 a fun, engaging program that allows youth to learn about nutrition, try new healthful recipes, and gain new kitchen skills. New recipes will be prepared by the campers daily. Physical activity will also be practiced daily to promote an overall healthy lifestyle. NEW! Cops & Bobbers Fishing Tourney (June 23)
The Oglesby Police Department will be hosting the 1st annual Cops & Bobbers Fishing Tournament on Saturday, June 23rd at McPhedran Park/Lake in Oglesby. The tournament is FREE for Oglesby Residents Only! Children ages 4 – 15 are welcome to sign up ! Registration begins at 8am, fishing from 9am – 11am, and a hot dog lunch at 11am. Bring your own pole! Bait will be provided. Prizes go to the top 3 in each age group. (A limited number of loaner poles will be available.)
Fundamentals Baseball Clinic (June 25 – 29)
Open to boys entering grades 2 – 7. Held at Bottomley Diamond at Dickinson field. Clinic times are 2nd – 4th grade 9am – 10am. and 5th – 7th grade 10:30am – 11:30am. Fundamentals will be stressed. The fee is $20, which includes t-shirt and baseball giveaways. Instructor-St Bede Varsity Baseball Coach and team members (Times may vary depending on the number of participants.)
Cheers and Chants Cheer Camp (June 25 – 29)
Girls entering grades K – 4. Students will learn and improve all the basics of cheerleading, including cheers, chants, motions, jumps, kicks, and dance moves. Camp will be held at the Dickinson House; K – 2nd grade 9am – 10am, and 3rd – 4th grade 10am – 11am. There is a $20 fee for the camp. All participants will receive a t-shirt. (times may vary depending on the number of participants.)
Volleyball Skills and Drills (June 25 – 29)
The program is open to boys and girls entering grades 5th – 8th and will be held from 10am – 11:30am at Lincoln School. Fundamentals will be stressed. Cost of the program is $20. All campers receive a t-shirt.
Fun & Fitness Camp (July 9 -13 / July 23 – 27)
Classes are held at Elk’s Shelter/Oglesby Pool for children entering grades K – 5th from 9am – 2pm. The cost of the program is $50 for (1) Week, $90 for (2) weeks. The prgram includes art classes, indoor and outdoor games, and water safety and swimming. Children are expected to bring a sack lunch daily. Refreshments and camp t-shirt will be provided.
Girls Basketball Camp (July 16 – 20) / Boys Basketball Camp (July 16 – 20)
Camps are open to girls and boys entering grades 4 – 8. Camps times for girls are : 4th – 6th grade 9am – 10am and 7th – 8th grade 10am- 11am. Camp times for boys are: 4th – 6th grade 1pm – 2pm and 7th – 8th grade 2pm – 3pm. Basketball fundamentals will be stressed. cost for the program is $20. All campers receive a t-shirt . (Times may vary depending on the number of participants.)
Youth Bowling (July 30 – August 3)
Open, bowling with games and refreshments. Open to boys and girls entering grades K – 5. Camp will be held at the Dickinson House; K – 2nd grade from 12 noon – 1pm and 3rd – 5th grade 1pm – 2pm. There is a $20 fee for the week.
